All I want out of life these days is to have a busy schedule. And if I did have a busy schedule, what is the one thing I would need? A planner! Obviously, I would have tons of things to do and write down and make notes of. So I hit up Target and bought myself a Franklin Covey weekly planner.
Since I don't actually have much going on, it didn't take too long to write in all of my activities. But there was something empowering about carrying it around. It felt like everyone looked and me and thought, "Wow, that girl must be important and probably has somewhere better to be." I'm hoping that one day that will actually come true.
I needed the perfect place to test out my planner. I went to Borders. Oh, and I put on my "reading" glasses for effect. Here's the scene:
Cute guy in poltics/history section. Late 20s. We probably could have had something if the following conversation had never happened.
Me: I see that you aren't carrying a planner, like this one here (hold out planner for him to see). Does this mean you use some sort of calendar on your phone to keep track of your appointments?
Cute Guy: I'm sorry?
Me: A planner? Do you have one?
CG: No. (pretends to read the back of a book.....I saw the hint, but chose not to take it).
Me: (eyebrows raised, sympathetic tone of voice) reallllly? You don't have one? You must not have a whole lot going on then? (Looks at watch) Ok, well I gotta go to my next appointment. Nice talking to you.
CG: (pure confusion)
Alright, so maybe a planner isn't a good icebreaker with the fellas....but there is something about it that I love.
